something about dejection

Only soon the shades of semester two 2008 are fading. Empty on words, aimless creativity and with no critical thinking left to generate I head towards the very point of dejection. But it has been a good semester - intensive, but good. Do expect some slight modifications on Nexus, but also remain patient to soon be provided with more content. For now and until 3 November, I leave you with my only wish.

something about recession

poor posting frequency is, however, not due to the recession, rather it depends an educational upswing. upswing as in four major assignments to be completed only before the end of october. however, i did allocate a quarter of an hour of my time to visit the storåkers macann website and found something that caught my attention for more than just a moment.

something about jealousy

not the most persuasive ad by ddb, melbourne, but i must (again) admit that i adore the boy's jumper! i wonder if it is branded or if it is granny knitted? considering my follow-up of this particular execution i might just end up piling a jar of strawberry jam from cottees in my empty fridge. well done ddb?

something about distance

yet i'm on my outdoor/ambient journey and because i adore women, and admittedly curves, i thought the two below displayed examples were particularly expressive. according to my insight, wonderbra focus mainly on brand advertising - a consistent and simple message of how the products benefit women. see for yourself.

something about saving the planet

since my last post on outdoor i kind of went down that alley a little further. outdoor is unbelievably flexible and allows you to be super creative; found two great examples of how you can modify traditional media positions into something slightly unconventional - both with a similar message. maybe you recognise the idea, but still it's engaging.

voilà.

something about terje haakonsen

only passively i was snoozing through the article for tomorrow's lecture in current issues in marketing communication, and only by instinct i snapped the usual: "getting people to interact with your brand is a shortcut to strengthening the relationships someone has with your brand", moreover, "if people interact with the brand then they will become more engaged with the message, and develop a stronger predisposition to a message the have just received" / adam ferrier, planning partner & consumer psychologist @ naked communications. some would write a book to back up such facts, others would just, as in this case, narrow it down to some two qualitative sentences (even to one if you're a talented copywriter). so why waste time and talent to write a 650 page book explaining consumer behavior when all it does is meandering around straightforward facts?

anyway, ferrier's article lead me onto naked communications' website, further it lead me onto TBWA Oslo's website, who recently launched a campaign for smartfish, yet along with naked comms promoting their new beverage smartfish omega 3 - fish & fruit. disgusting one would assume, yet the campaign seems pretty cool by judging this singular print ad and a TVC featuring norwegian snowboarder and legend terje haakonsen.

something about vegemite

how can a product made purely out of yeast extract sell at all? well, they do - in fact, the australian icon vegemite now celebrates its one billionth jar of vegemite that has gone down the production line. i've never dared to try it (only smelled it twice) and i never will - ever. good thing there are people like australians - in fact, most definitely essential for vegemite.

found one newspaper ad that correlates with their usp - interesting idea too.

Tuesday 7 October 2008

something about herpes

sourced from durexhibit.co.uk via the editor-in-chief @ /hiptobesquare, yet created by teenager samuel michael who won durex's competition: to create a poster that should convince other teenagers within the same age bracket (16-24) to use a condom. the winner on top (bada-bing), but other executions and formats were available as well - well done.

could work for print as well as outdoor - even online or for TV?

something about perth outdoor

a series of well executed outdoor ads/displays that I've collected here and there during the weekend - indulge yourself

quite corny I admit, yet it made me smile.

Sunday 5 October 2008

something about ane brun

cool video, lovely song - ane brun's version of big in japan.

Saturday 4 October 2008

something about dental support

pretty good ad - two in one. you could want better art direction, but still the message is clear and simple. by TBWA paris.

yet another one from TBWA, but from the vienna agency. again, clear and simple.

something about the real bloke

uncountable hours at the gym, utes, superfast eyewear, snakeskin boots, bootcut jeans, short-cut shirts, crazy mohican haircuts, toohey's draught and solo strong or what have you australian blokes? well, don't consider yourself being larger than life just yet - try waking up after 12 cans of this, then we evaluate.
